You can message your assistant through Colleague’s WhatsApp account when WhatsApp is available in your dashboard. You do not need a separate phone number.
Connect WhatsApp
Section titled “Connect WhatsApp”- Sign in to the Colleague dashboard.
- Under WhatsApp, choose Connect.
- Open WhatsApp and send the prepared message without changing it.
- Return to the dashboard and confirm that the sending account is yours.
- Send Colleague a private message in WhatsApp.
The connection link expires after ten minutes. If it expires, cancel the attempt and choose Connect again. Confirm only your own WhatsApp account.
WhatsApp shows Colleague’s account name and photo. Your assistant keeps the name and personality you give it in conversation. Other users have their own assistants and separate conversations with the same Colleague account.
To disconnect, choose Remove on the WhatsApp card in your dashboard.
Groups and Communities
Section titled “Groups and Communities”Colleague’s WhatsApp account does not support assistant conversations in groups or Communities. This also applies when you are the only person in a group. Creating a Community does not create separate sessions with your assistant.
If WhatsApp delivers a group message to Colleague, you may see this notice:
Colleague’s WhatsApp account doesn’t support groups. See https://docs.colleague.ac/whatsapp/#groups-and-communities
The notice is a fixed help message. It does not start an assistant conversation or connect the group to the first person who speaks. It is not repeated for each new message. Some groups cannot reach Colleague’s account, so a notice is not always possible.
For group conversations, use Telegram. Approve your group in the dashboard before using it. Telegram topics can help you organize separate conversations with your assistant.
If you want to use WhatsApp groups, contact Colleague support about a dedicated WhatsApp number for your assistant. This is a separate setup that the team must enable. Adding the shared Colleague account to a group does not enable it.
Private messages and voice notes
Section titled “Private messages and voice notes”You can send text, photos, documents and voice notes in your private chat. Voice notes are transcribed so your assistant can respond to what you say.
If your assistant does not reply, check its status in the dashboard. Send a new private message if you have not messaged it recently. If the problem continues, contact support with the time of your message and what happened.
